MICRONEEDLING is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), a non-surgical and non-ablative procedure for skin rejuvenation and can be used to treat an array of different conditions including lines & wrinkles, UV damage, hyperpigmentation, loss of skin density and acne scarring.
It involves the use of a mechanized derma pen device to create a controlled injury to the skin, in the form of thousands of micro-channels into the dermis. This controlled micro-injury triggers a rejuvenation process and stimulates fibroblasts and growth factors to repair the skin with the production of new collagen and elastin and also promotes the skin’s natural healing response and collagen production.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure and is generally a safe and effective procedure that can improve the appearance of the skin. The procedure isn’t overly painful. There are ways to minimize discomfort. The most common side effects of micro-needling are skin redness and irritation which tend to disappear in 1, 2 days.
Microneedling takes multiple sessions to truly see results, but research has shown it to be an effective, minimally invasive way to improve the health of the skin and can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. Skin improvement is evident 3–4 weeks after a micro-needling session.
For collagen induction is recommended to start with minimum of 3 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments.
However, collagen maturation needs time, especially to transform into the more elastic collagen type I.
For scar reduction, an average of 3 to 6 treatments is recommended. Former atrophic scars show a relatively early improvement that is evident around 2–3 weeks post-needling
Microneedling is not suitable for clients with:
- active acne or rosacea, and any other inflammatory conditions or open wounds. Also with active cold sores or warts and keloidal tendency.
- moderate to severe chronic skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis
- anticoagulant therapy.
The Osmosis RevitaPen Facial Infusion is the no-needle alternative to Microneedling. Using Nano-Technology to enhance product absorption into the skin without wounding or triggering inflammation.
The RevitaPen can be added to any facial treatment to improve ingredient absorption. For best results, it is used in conjunction with the Osmosis Facial Infusion to super-charge ingredient delivery.
For a small additional fee, your micro-needling treatment can be enhanced to delivered mesotherapy cocktails designed for trans-dermal infusion. Delivering vitamins and minerals into the skin to enhance the results from treatment, targeting specific skin concerns such as aging, hyperpigmentation, skin firming and line relaxing ingredients.
